In the Footsteps of History: MTB Tour Through Villages and Roman Archaeology

(Massa Martana - Via Flaminia - Catacombs - Ponte Fonnaia - Mezzannelli - Colpetrazzo - Massa Martana)

Imagine a day of gentle mobility, where the slow pace of the pedals allows you to connect with the nature and thousand-year history of the Martan territory.

This tour stems from the philosophy of sustainable tourism, offering an experience accessible to everyone: from families seeking recreation to groups of friends who want to combine physical activity with cultural discovery.

The route, although classified with a medium difficulty, is designed to be enjoyable for everyone, especially thanks to the support of modern E-bikes which make the 360 m of altitude difference a pleasant interlude between one stop and the next

The Itinerary: From the Ancient Romans to the Middle Ages
The journey begins by immersing yourself in greenery through picturesque country lanes, following the route of ancient roads that seem to have stopped time.

The heart of the tour beats along the Via Flaminia, the historic Roman artery that connected Rome to Rimini, bringing you directly before giants of the past:

The Catacombs: An archaeological site of rare beauty (visit by reservation, approximately 30 minutes) that testifies to the deep roots of the territory
Ponte Fonnaia: An imposing work of Roman engineering that still defies the centuries today
On the way back, the landscape transforms as you pass through the enchanted villages of Mezzanelli and Colpetrazzo.

Here, the charm of the ancient towns marries the local devotional tradition: you can admire the characteristic "Aedicules", small architectural pearls scattered along the route to protect sacred icons and guide travellers
